Trunk Bay has consistently been voted one of the top beaches in the world. It is part of the Virgin Islands National Park and named for the Leatherback turtle, which is endemic to the U.S.V.I. and are locally known as trunks.[2] The beach area is divided into two halves, the main Trunk Bay beach and swim area and Burgesman Cove which is located on the west end of Trunk Bay near Jumby Bay. Its amenities include a food truck that serves both food and beverage, snorkeling and beach chair rental, separate men's and women's bathrooms, changing rooms and shower facilities. It will also have a small retail shop. These are among the first concessions to be open since Hurricanes Irma/Maria wreaked havoc on this pristine island that is nearly 2/3 Preserved National Parkland. It is unclear whether Trunk Bay will start charging the $5 per person entance fee as it did prior to the hurricanes. The Park has stated previously that it cannot charge currently due to the lack of concessions, so it’s a good bet to think they will resume charging once this reopens.
